  • Call the Parks and Recreation office at 412-262-1703 to pay with credit card.
  • Send in a check to our mailing address with the participants name, date of birth, address, phone and e-mail. You will not be officially registered in the class until you receive a confirmation e-mail.

ATHLETICS / FITNESS  


For all classes: 

  • Space is limited to 9 students for classes, please register online or call the Moon Park office at 412-262-1703 ext 403. 
  • This class is weather dependent rain prevents the class from running, an additional class will be added to the session. 
  • The Robin Hill Center is closed to the public, for classes on the Robin Hill Patio, please walk around the main building to the back patio where the class will be held. Public bathrooms are available at the entrance of the park. 
  • For classes at Moon Park, multiple public bathrooms are available in the park.

Youth Leadership Program (Ages 13-15)
Dates: June 13th-July 25th
Day/Time: Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30pm
Location: Robin Hill- Carriage House (949 Thorn Run Rd)
Fee: $50 (Residents)/ $55 (Non-Residents)

A leadership development program that helps youth (age 13-15) discover their full potential through extensive leadership training that includes guest speakers, as well as fun and engaging activities. Our focus is to foster growth in character development, life skills, workplace readiness and community advocacy. Through this, we will inspire and prepare youth to become active, engaged and thriving members of their community.

Youth Tennis Lessons
Dates: June 3-June 24 (Saturdays)
          July 8-July 29 (Saturdays)
Fee: $50 (Resident)/session
       $60 (Non-resident)/session
Location: Moon Park Tennis Courts (court 1 & 2)
Timeslots/Age groups: 9-10am (Red Ball, Ages 5-7)
                                  10-11am (Orange Ball, Ages 8-10)
                                  11am-Noon (Green Ball, Ages 11-14)

Our tennis lessons are in full swing! Whether your child is picking up a racquet for the first time or just looking to further develop their racket skills, our classes are perfect for you! 

We have sized the game for kids. Smaller rackets, smaller courts, slower-moving & lower bouncing balls allow kids to learn the game correctly and with the most fun.

We show the kids the basics and get them rallying back & forth in the quickest & most fun format possible.




Hip Hop Cardio (Adults & Teens 15+)
Dates: March 30th-May 11th (No class April 20th)
Days/Times: Thursdays, 7:00-8:00pm
Location: Robin Hill Center
Fee: $45 Resident/ $50 Non-Resident
Instructor: Amy Humberston

Join Amy for some cardio dance exercise! You can take the moves up to make them harder or modify for any fitness level. Amy will help everyone with fun fitness through dance where everyone can leave feeling like they had a great workout and had fun! Class will include warm up and cool down also.


Pilates (Adults and Teens 15+)

   Time: 8:30-9:30am
   Location: Temporarily moved to Carriage House. Starting March 28th classes will be moved back to Robin Hill Center

The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching/strengthening exercises that work the entire body. Expect to flatten your abs, strengthen your core muscles, increase flexibility, firm buttocks/thighs, and improve your posture. For all fitness levels. Bring a mat, light hand weights (3lbs or less) and water.


Barre (Adults & Teens 15+) 
Dates: Wednesday, March 8th-April 12th
                             April 19th-May 24th
                             
Location: Moved to Carriage House (through March 22nd). Starting March 29th classes moved back to Robin Hill Center
Time: 8:30 – 9:30 am
Fee: $45 – Moon Resident $50 Non Moon Resident (Per 6 week session)

This class has a max participation number of 18 people. Please register online. For more information about space availability for drop-ins, please email pilatesbodyj@gmail.com. Restrooms are available at the entrance of the park.  A total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs, abs, arms and burns fat. This workout includes elements of ballet, Pilates, and traditional toning exercises. The class starts with standing barrework. The class ends with core work and a series of deep stretches. Bring a mat and a pair of 1-3lb dumb bells. For all fitness levels.


Yoga Beginners and Beyond (Adults & Teens 15+)

Yoga-curious or yoga-nervous? Then this is the class for you...No experience required! Instructor Jen Stratakis E-RYT 500, will lead you through an hour-long class, which includes standing and seated poses, breathwork, and guided relaxation. Modifications are given to accommodate everyone. With regular practice, yoga can improve lung capacity, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, mental calm, and more. Bring a mat, water bottle, and any other yoga props you may have. Blocks are especially helpful.  


Totally Toned (Adults & Teens 15+)
Dates:  Mondays, February 27th-April 3rd
                          April 17th-May 22nd
Location: Carriage House (through March 20th), Robin Hill Center (starting March 27th)
Time: 6:30 – 7:30pm
Fee: $45 – Moon Resident $50 Non Moon Resident (Per 6 week session)

This class has a max participation number of 15 people. Please register online. There are no drop-ins for this class. This class is designed to help tone your entire body including abs, thighs, back, arms, and glutes. It is appropriate for all fitness levels. Bring hand weights and a mat.




ART/EDUCATION/NATURE 

Safe@Home by Safe Sitter (Grades 4-6)
Date options: Friday March 18 10:30am-12:00pm
                     Monday April 11 3:00-4:30pm
                     Tuesday May 17 3:00-4:30pm
Fee: $25 Moon residents, $35 non-residents
Location: Moon Park Office Classroom (downstairs)
Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. Safe@Home is a 90-minute program that teaches students how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

Safe Sitter Essentials (Grades 6-8)
Date options: Monday March 25 12:00-4:30 pm
                     Wednesday April 13 2:00-6:30 pm
Fee: $45 Moon residents, $50 non-residents
Location: Moon Park Office Classroom (downstairs)
Safe Sitter® Essentials is a 1 day program designed for students in grades 6-8 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. In addition, Safe Sitter® teaches young teens life and business skills, so that they know how to be prepared, be responsible, and be considerate whether they are babysitting or doing odd jobs for family, friends, or neighbors.  The majority of this instructor led class will be hands free with numerous skill demonstrations and videos to compliment the class curriculum. This class will not include CPR skills.
