ATHLETICS/FITNESS 

Beginner's Zumba® (Ages 13+ and Adults)
Dates: 
Mondays      October 29 - December 10 (No Class 11/26)
                                 January 7 - February 25 (No Classes 1/21 and 2/18)

Location: Moon High School Fitness Room
Fee: $45 Moon residents/$50 Non-residents, per 6 week session
This class is designed for you to have fun while you burn calories. It is a great way to begin an exercise regime. Beginner's Zumba® is a combination of Latin based dance moves; salsa, cumbia, soca, flamenco, samba, hip-hop, and more that will really make you sweat! Dance experience not required.

Belly Dancing Body Fitness  (Teens 15+ and Adults)
Dates:  Wednesdays, October 17 – November 21
                                   January 9 - February 13
                                   February 20 - March 27
Time:  7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Location:  Moon High School Fitness Room
Fee:  $45 residents; $50 non-residents, per 6-week session; $10 drop-in
Belly dancing body fitness is a fun high-energy, low-impact toning exercise format with emphasis on abdominal and oblique muscles set to upbeat middle eastern music.  This graceful format is a total body workout that is gentle on the joints.  No high-impact jumping in this exercise format, just fluid dance exercise, executed through mind and muscle-controlled movements to beautiful soulful music.

Masters Swim Program (Adults)
Dates: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday all year long
Time: 5:30 – 6:45 a.m.
Location: Moon High School Natatorium
Fee: $30 per month; first monthly fee charged at registration; automatic withdrawal first of each month after

Adults 18 and older will train under a certified Masters coach who plans workouts, helps with stroke refinement and technique and encourages you to meet your goals. 

 PADI Discover Scuba Program (Ages 11+)
Dates: Sunday, January 20
Time: 12:00p.m.-4:00p.m.
Location: Moon Area High Natatorium
Fees:  $50 per person
Registration:  Registration at the park office only.  Register by October 12 for October 14 program and January 18 for the January 20 program.
Learn the basic safety guidelines and skills needed to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) professional.  Two sessions to choose from.  Must be over 10 years old.

Pilates (Adults and Teens 15+)
Date: Wednesdays,  October 17 - November 21

The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching/strengthening exercises that work the entire body. Expect to flatten your abs, strengthen your core muscles, increase flexibility, firm buttocks/thighs, and improve your posture. For all fitness levels.

Pound® (Adults and Teens 15+)

POUND® is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, strength movements, plyometric and isometric poses. Through continual upper body motion using our lightly weighed exercise drumsticks, called Ripstix, you’ll turn into a calorie-torching drummer, POUNDing off pounds as each song flies by!

Public Swimming (All Ages - Moon Township Residents Only)
Dates:
Starts Monday - Friday, September 10 throughout the school year
Time: 7:45p.m.-9:00p.m.
Location: Moon Area High Natatorium
Fees:  $3 Adults 18+; $2 Children 3-17; Children under 2 free
Registration: Just drop in and swim! 
Enjoy an evening at the pool.  Children under10 must be accompanied by an adult.  Lap swimming available.

Senior Workout with Linda Francis
Dates: Wednesdays, November 14 - December 19
                                   February 20 - March 27
Times: 9:30a.m.-10:30a.m.
Location: Moon Township Municipal Building Auditorium
Fee: $21 Moon residents/$25 non-residents, per 6 week session (Drop In for $4)
Come out and meet our instructor, Linda Francis! This class will help seniors maintain a fitness level to stay mobile. It is a “LOW” impact aerobics class that will work on balance and strengthening while having fun and meeting new people.

Totally Toned (Adults & Teens 15+)
Dates: Mondays  October 29 - December 10 (No Class 11/26)
                             January 7 - February 25 (No Classes 1/21 and 1/28)
                             March 4 -  April 15 ( No Class 3/25)
Times: 7:15p.m.-8:15p.m.
Location: Moon High School Fitness Room

This class is designed to help tone your entire body including abs, thighs, back, arms, and glutes. It is appropriate for all fitness levels. Bring hand weights, a mat and water.

Yoga: Basics and More (Ages 15+ and Adults)
Dates: Tuesdays   October 2 - 23
                               November 6 - 27 (11/6 & 11/13 classes at Robin Hill Center)
                               January 8 - February 12 (6 weeks)

Whether you are yoga-curious or yoga-proficient, this is the class for you. No experience required. Instructor, Jen Stratakis E-RYT, will lead you through an hour-long class, which includes standing and seated poses, breathwork and guided relaxation. Modifications are given to accommodate all levels of yoga experience. With regular practice, yoga can improve lung capacity, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, mental calm and more. Participants should bring a yoga mat and water. Namaste!

Splash – Water/Mixed Media Art Classes (Adults 18+)

This class is designed for new and returning students. This is an eight-week course designed to engage all students in the fun and exciting world of water-based materials. No previous experience is necessary - just a desire to have fun.


SENIOR CONNECTION 

What is the Senior Connection? - The Moon Parks and Recreation Senior Connection offers senior programming to anyone 55+ in Moon Township as well as all surrounding communities.  Membership is FREE.  Membership Cards can be obtained at the Moon Parks office in Moon Park during business hours or at the Carriage House in Robin Hill Park during a Senior Connection Social. 

Registration - Please call 412-262-1703 ext. 404 Tuesday through Thursday to register for the following programs.  Also, on the first Wednesday of each month at the Carriage House from 11am-Noon, we will be available on-site for registrations.  Other registration options are listed at the top of this page.  Payment is due at time of registration.  Senior Connection discounts cannot be applied when registering online.

Senior Connection Socials (Adults 55+)

Open to anyone age 55 and older. Come and enjoy fun and friendship every Wednesday!  Join us for complimentary beverages, coffee, snacks, popcorn and conversation. Drop in or stay all day. Many activities to suit many interests.  Monthly schedules available at the socials.  On the first Wednesday of each month from 11am-Noon, we can process registrations on-site.

Beginner Painting Class with Heidi Lee (Ages 55+)
Dates: Tuesday December 4

Beginner Class using acrylic paints. Still life on canvas. Instructed by Heidi Lee from Heidi Lee Portraits. Painting with our own Senior Connection with a Twist! Have fun while creating your own masterpiece.  Supplies are included.

Line Dancing with Marilyn (55+)

Maryland Scenic Railroad Bus Trip (Ages 55+)
Date: Friday, November 16
Time: Bus departs Carriage House at 7:30 a.m.; returns around 6:00 p.m.

A vintage diesel engine will pull us from Cumberland, Maryland through small towns, horseshoe curve and beautiful scenery as we enjoy lunch to the “Mountain City” of Frostburg, MD.  We will de-train for one hour before we begin our trip back to Cumberland.  

“Massage Works” Workshop and Breakfast (Ages 55+)

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location:  Robin Hill Center
Fee: $8 per person; $7 for Senior Connection members

Enjoy a tasty breakfast followed by an informational, educational and hands-on explanation of the benefits of massage therapy.  Professional instructors, great tips and a variety of techniques.  Ends with a Q & A session.  
 
Hartville, Ohio Shopping Trip (Ages 55+)
Date: Monday, December 3
Time: Bus departs Carriage House at 9:30 a.m.; returns around 6:00 p.m.
Fee: $29 per person

Start the day at the Hartville Kitchen and Hardware Emporium.  Next stop, the Hartville Marketplace.  This is an on-your-own shopping day.  Visit over 100 shops featuring food, fashion, antiques, home décor and more.   Meals on your own.
 
Angels/Archangels 101 (Ages 55+)

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2 p.m. - Please arrive by 12:45 p.m.
Location:  Carriage House at Robin Hill Park
Fee: $5 per person donation to the West Hills Food Bank

An informational and inspiring talk about angels and archangels presented by Mary Celine Miller held during the regular Wednesday Senior Connection Program.  
 
Music Bingo and Karaoke (Ages 55+)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  Enjoy a spectacular concert of holiday music for the whole family.  Take a “Sleigh Ride” with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, Broadway sensation Ryan Silverman, and Santa Claus, too!  It’s Pittsburgh’s favorite holiday tradition.  
 
Christmas Gala Luncheon (Ages 55+)
