Teen Programs
The Moon Parks & Recreation Department is looking for talented individuals to who would like to teach classes at the Robin Hill Center. If you would like to share your talents with the community and teach a class, please contact the parks department at 412-262-1703 or email us at info@moonparks.org.
There are three ways to register for most of our classes:
- You can sign up in person at the park office.
- You can call the Parks office at 412-262-1703 to pay with credit card.
- You may send in a check to our mailing address with the participants name, date of birth, address, phone and e-mail. You will not be officially registered in the class until you receive a confirmation e-mail.
ATHLETICS/FITNESS
Pilates (Adults & Teens 15+)

Moon Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a Pilate’s class. Join our certified instructor, Judy Elias, for Pilates! The exciting benefits of this class are improved posture, weight loss from exercise, a renewed positive sense of self and much more! It is designed for all fitness levels and we ask that you provide a towel/mat to class.
Kardio Hip Hop (Ages 15+ and Adults)
Dates: Wednesdays May 23-June 27 (6 weeks)

Let our instructor’s energy and enthusiasm take your workout to the next level. Our instructor uses today’s hottest music to a design a jam-packed hour of High Intensity Interval training. You’ll be sweating and smiling!
Zumba Fitness

Moon Parks and Recreation is sponsoring Zumba classes. They are 6-week sessions that are designed to have fun while you burn calories. Zumba Fitness is a combination of Latin based dance moves; salsa, cumbia, soca, flamenco, samba, hip-hop and more that will really make you sweat! Danced experience is not required.
Beginner's Zumba (Ages 13+ and Adults)
Dates: Mondays June 18-July 23 (6 weeks)

This is a 6 week class that is designed to have fun while you burn calories. It is a great way to begin an exercise regime.
Totally Toned (Adults & Teens 15+)

This class is designed to help tone your entire body including abs, thighs, back, arms, and glutes. It is appropriate for all fitness levels. Bring hand weights and a mat.
Yoga Basics (Ages 15+ and Adults)
Date: Tuesdays June 5-June 26 (4 weeks)

Instructor: Jen Stratakis
Great class for the yoga-curious! Meet our newest instructor, Jen Stratakis, for Yoga Basics. No experience required. If you have ever wanted to try Yoga, this is the course for you. This Yoga class will include poses, breath work and guided relaxation. With regular practice, it can improve lung capacity, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, mental calm and more. Participants should bring a Yoga mat or towel and water to class.
Yoga Workshops
Yoga for Runners (Ages 15+)
Date: Tuesday June 1, 2012
Time: 7:00-8:30pm

Fee: $15 Moon Residents/$20 non-residents
Whether you are a casual runner or prepping for an upcoming race, this workshop will give you some great tips and helpful hints. Lean how to use yoga poses and breath work to complement your training efforts. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Please bring yoga mat to class.

DOGA (Ages 16+)
Date: June 22, 2012
Time: 7:00-8:30pm
Location: Moon Park
Fee: $15 Moon residents/$20 non-residents
Are Down Do and Puppy Pose your favorite yoga poses? Does Fido come running when you roll out your mat? DOGA is about sharing your yoga practice with your canine companion. Dogs are natural yogis-they stretch, live in the moment, and log and good chant/howl! A typical DOGA class includes a walking meditation, standing poses, fun balancing poses, and doggie massage and relaxation. No matter what breed pup you have, this is a fun way to celebrate your bond. No prior yoga experience required. Participants should bring a yoga mat or beach towel and a few canine treats to this outdoor class.

Educational
Driver's Education/Teens
Dates: Summer Sessions Mon-Fri June 18-29 or August 6-17
Time: 9am-Noon
Location: Moon Township Municipal Building
Cost: $25.00 Moon residents/$30 Non-residents +Course Fee $350
Moon Parks and Recreation is sponsoring Driver's Education Courses. The course will be instructed by the Kennedy School of Driving. Upon successful completion of 30 hours of theory and 6 hours of in-car training, a certificate will be given that is accepted by most insurance companies. Participants must be 16 and have a learner's permit for the on-the-road portion of the program. The course fee is paid to Kennedy School of Driving at the first class.
Art/Music PROGRAMS
Soulful Expression in Music (Ages 14+)
Dates: Tuesday July 10 and Wednesday July 11
Times: 7:00-9:00pm
Location: Moon Township Municipal Building
Cost: $50 Moon residents/$55 non-residents
Instructor: MaryBeth Schotting, violinist.
This class is designed to define and explore the soulful element in music. Participants will learn how to access the energy and expression within themselves and apply it to their music and playing. Participants should bring their instrument, as they will be given 1-2 pieces to play together. Any instrument is okay, including keyboard and vocals. Bring music stand.
Fiddle and Rock Strings Music Workshops (Ages 10-18)
Dates/Times: Monday July 30 1:00-4:00pm
or Thursday Aug 16 9:00am-Noon
Location: Robin Hill Center
Cost: $25 Moon residents/$30 non-residents
Instructor: Steven Vance
This workshop is an introduction to fiddle styles by teaching shuffle bowing and double stopping. Participants will learn a few tunes that they will be able to go home and play that night. You will also rock classic tunes with your Yamaha Electric Violin, Viola and Cello, plus sound effects and looping station. At least two years of Violin, Viola or Cello experience is required. Please bring instrument.
Summer Camps
US Sports Multi Sports Camp (Ages 5-14)
Dates: July 16-20
Times: Full Day (9am-4pm), Half Day Am (9am-12:30pm), Half Day Pm (1-4pm)
Location: Moon Park
Cost: Full Day $165, Half Day Am $145, Half Day Pm $130

Give your child a unique opportunity to experience 15 different sports from around the world. Children can learn how to bowl a Cricket ball, score a try in Rugby, Shoot hoops and score plenty of goals in a variety of sports from around the world. All activities and games take place in a positive low pressure educational environment under the guidance of our qualified coaches who are chosen for their ability to inspire, motivate and encourage campers. Full Day participants should being brown-bag lunch.
Western PA Baseball Camp (Ages 7-14)
Dates: June 18-22 and June 25-29
Times: 9am-3pm
Location: Moon Park Baseball Fields
Cost: $150/per week
Moon Parks and Recreation is proud to "team up" with Moon's legendary baseball coach, Ray Bosetti, for this instructional baseball camp. Players should dress for the weather and bring their own glove, bats (optional), waterbottles and hats. Players should bring a lunch every day but Friday (Pizza Party). Players receive free camp T-Shirt and certificate of attendance. Coach Bosetti and his staff will instruct the fundamentals of the game: base running, throwing, hitting, fielding, bunting, sliding, pitching, & catching.
